A equipe Jaguar ganhou o campeonato mundial de carros esporte em 1987 duelando com a Porsche em todas as provas. O time inglês venceu 8 das 10 provas enquanto os alemães dominaram em Le Mans e Norisring. O brasileiro Raul Boesel tornou-se Campeão Mundial de Protótipos sozinho, já que seu parceiro Eddie Cheever não participou de algumas provas por estar disputando também a Fórmula 1.
